Collin Evans
Associate
Collin Evans is an associate with Stradley, Chernoff & Alford and rivals Matt as the biggest Longhorn fan in the office. Born in Midland, Texas, he moved to the Katy area at the age of seven with his family where he attended Taylor High School. After earning his degree in Marketing from the University of Texas, Collin began his trek into the legal profession. He started working as a patent prosecution assistant with one of the largest law firms in the country while in Austin, and learned what it means to be an attorney from some of the best patent lawyers in the country.
Collin enjoys setting major goals for himself, but always has a contingency plan in case life sends him in another direction. While preparing for his law school entrance exam, he began training in Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga and Muy Thai. If his path to law school had suddenly stopped, he planned on beginning a career as a cage-fighter. Fortunately for him (and his face), South Texas College of Law accepted him and he entered with aspirations of transferring to a school in California and focusing his studies on entertainment law because of his love for music.
However, he quickly found a home at South Texas and all his plans changed when he stood in front a jury at his first mock trial competition. Collin fell in love with arguing in court and began to travel all over the country on varsity mock trial teams with the number one advocacy program in the nation.
Collin began working with the firm as a law clerk during his first summer of law school. While in this position he earned his reputation as a writer, known for drafting motions that can stop a case in its tracks. During one of the firm's federal cases, a partner needed a response to a motion filed by the end of the day. In thirty minutes, Collin researched and drafted the document which the federal judge granted. This one motion saved the client tens of thousands of dollars in attorney's fees that he would have had to pay to the opposing side. For a felony possession of marijuana case, Collin drafted a motion to suppress that kept all evidence of a growing operation out of trial. Without that evidence the District Attorney's Office dismissed the case.
Collin works closely with the partners in the firm, and is one reason they can handle cases of any size and scope. |
