About Montgomery County, TX

Montgomery County, TX, is part of the Houston metro area, located about 45 miles north of downtown Houston. Montgomery County is named for the town of Montgomery that was founded in 1837. Montgomery County was established several months later. The town and county likely got their name from Montgomery County, Alabama, which was named in honor of Major Lemuel P. Montgomery. Montgomery County was historically a farming community, although by the turn of the 20th century farming had been supplanted by timber as the county’s largest industry. Several decades later, oil reserves were discovered in the county, which led to significant economic and population growth. Today, Montgomery County is largely suburban in character, with many residents commuting into Houston for work.

Frequently Asked Questions About Criminal Defense in Montgomery County, TX

Why was I denied bail?

Criminal defendants may be denied bail, also known as receiving a “no bond,” for multiple potential reasons. Bail may be denied if you are arrested while on probation or parole or if you are out on bond on another criminal charge. Bail is also frequently denied for defendants charged with serious violent crimes. You may be denied bail if the magistrate determines that you pose a risk of fleeing the state or failing to appear for court hearings and trial. People who have served two or more separate terms in prison may also be denied bail.

Should I agree to talk to the police if I am innocent?

Do not assume that you can simply “clear things up,” even if you believe that you are innocent of a crime that you are being investigated for or have been arrested for. Criminal investigators are highly skilled in asking questions that are designed to trip up an interrogee and get them to say something that may be incriminating. Instead, turn to my firm for help with clearing your name if you are innocent of a crime you have been accused of. I will investigate your charges and recover evidence that proves your innocence.
